The four 1st level spell slots become 4 spell points, and the three 2nd level spell slots becomes 6 spell points, coming to a total of 10 spell points. So a 4th level wizard normally has four 1st level spell slots, and three 2nd level spell slots. And then a characters total spell points is dependent on how many spell slots they would have had, turned into points. It's basis is that all spell slots are equal to a point of equivalent level. ![]() So instead a made a different system that I've been using for my party, so far it's worked but they are still low-level. If it had a bit more uniformity in its structure, then I'd use it as is, but it's just too random. ![]() But I also never liked the system the DMG gave, the cost of spells and points per level seems random and, frankly, half done. Spell slots are tedious, I can't understand why a spellcaster has to suffer needlessly by casting multiple low-level spells instead of a some low level, a few medium level and fewer higher level spells.
